NATIONAL SEMINAR ON PHYSICS CURRICULUM
AND TEXT BOOKS OF + 2 LEVEL
01-03-2009

Indian Association of Physics Teachers [IAPT] Regional council -11(Andhra Pradesh) along with Bapatla College of Arts & Sciences organized a “National Seminar on Physics curriculum and text books of + 2 level ” on 1st March, 2009 at Bapatla.

At the inaugural function Dr.M.Prakash, ERTW, Board of Intermediate Education, Hyderabad, was the Chief Guest, Prof. K.Subbaramaiah, HOD of Physics, S.R.K.R.Engineering College, Bhimavaram, presided over the function. The programme was conducted by Sri. D.V.Brahmaji, Convener of the seminar.

Prof.K.Suubbaramaiah in his presidential speech stressed the importance of various aspects of curriculum and modification of academy text books at intermediate level.

Sri.K.Venkateswara Rao, Principal of Bapatla College of Arts & Sciences gave the welcome address and highlighted the role of physicists. He advised to improve the curriculum and text books at intermediate level to acquire the application knowledge and skills which required for the development of society. And also advised the delegates to take the steps to popularize the Physics among the students.

Prof.V.S.Murthy, IIT Madras, delivered the key note address. He gave a brief account about IAPT activities. He concern at the decreasing enrolment in Physics which was going to affect the research fields very seriously in near future. He explained why the students should study the Physics as a key subject and mentioned the hidden powers of the subject.

Dr.M.Prakash, Chief Guest, expressed the view that the feed back of seminar is useful to improve the quality of Physics education at +2 level.

Dr.N.V.Poornachandra Rao, HOD of Physics, VSR & NVR College, Tenali, and Executive member of IAPT, has given inaugural lecture. He said that Physics is the most basic of sciences and its concepts and techniques underpin the progress of all other branches of science and engineering. It is a cross- cutting discipline that has applications in many sectors of economic development, including health, agriculture, water, energy, and information and communication technology. He requested the BIE authority to make the classification of subject content related to EAMCET/AIEE/IIT entrance examinations in academy text books and also advised to note the reference books in each chapter.

The post lunch session was presided by Dr.N.V.Poornachandra Rao. The seminar was attended by more than 60 participants. The participants as well as resource persons spoken freely about the different aspects of seminar. The participants got an opportunity of interaction with Dr. M.Prakash, Board of Intermediate Education. The participation certificate was distributed to all participants.

Sri. D.V.Brahmaji handed over a CD contains the list of mistakes against fundamental concepts and basic principles of physics committed in text books and also the comments on the subject presentation. The delegates requested the chief guest to take the necessary action to rectify the mistakes committed in academy text books and save the Physics education of 10 lakes students at +2 level.

The seminar was ended with vote of thanks by the convener to all of them who helped in organizing it successfully. The regional council executive members thanked Sri Muppalaneni Seshagiri Rao, President, Bapatla Education Society, Bapatla, for excellent arrangements provided to conduct the National seminar.

The following resolutions were accepted after wide discussions:
To enable the intermediate students succeed in All India level competitive and admission tests, it is advisable to have a common core syllabus for all the states.

Editors and authors having sound knowledge of Physics subject are to be enlisted to prepare the text books and practical manuals at + 2 level

Proper scrutiny should be conduct by competent subject experts.

Proper care should be taken to reduce the glaring mistakes against basic concepts and fundamental principles of Physics.

The academy text books and practical manuals of intermediate Physics consists number of mistakes.

Sri. D.V. Brahmaji, a retired physics HOD of Bapatla College of Arts & Sciences has prepared a list of mistakes in English and Telugu Physics books published by Academy for Intermediate First and Second year in Andhra Pradesh. And also he focused this matter in news papers like The Hindu. It was appreciated by IAPT members.

The delegates requested the Telugu Academy & BIE, Hyderabad, to take the necessary action to rectify the mistakes committed in academy text books and save the Physics education of 10 lakhs students at +2 level. IMMEDIAITE ACTION REQUESTED FROM BIE, HHDERABAD, IN VIEW OF FORTH COMING EXAMS

Participants advised that the authors should follow a prescribed blue print in preparation of the questions, problems written at the end of each chapter,

Members request the BIE authorities to mention the list of reference books at the end of each chapter to avoid the confusion in subject.

  1. Dear Sir,
I am engaged with research work on the theoretical and applied physics. I have been trying to found a new horizon of physics. Recently I have proved that "Energy is created newly by particle and matter in every where, Energy’s conservation law is fault”. So, I think and have already proved theoretically and in my laboratory that, spin of particles is related to the creation of energy and electromagnetism. I wish to establish of my research work and Invention. Please give me an opportunity.

I have been doing research work on Theoretical and Applied Physics. I have not completed doctorate. But, I have written a copy of book of many new fundamental
ideas of all Physics and Astrophysics. I strongly confident the book after publishing maximum problems would be solved by the book. Such as, problems in Newtonians mechanics, real event of Maxwell’s electro magnetism, problems of Quantum Theory & Quantum mechanics, problems in the Special and General Theory of relativity of Einstein, problems in modern idea of particle Physics, Salam’s conception, problems of Stephan Hocking’s idea, and maximum problems of physics will be solved by the book.

Please issue for me a Research job opportunity of any of Physics.

    Thanking You
